This presentation will discuss a unique monetization strategy developed by Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation for licensing/selling a patent-pending improved inlet manifold design under US Patent Application 2022/0347758 A1 to global additive manufacturing companies that print 3D metal parts using an EOS M400-1 printer. Improvements from this design include reduced powder waste from turbulent gas flow, improved condensate plume evacuation, and reduced spatter inclusion in parts. This improved design was invented to address the above 3D printing issues and is currently being used internally to print aluminum parts. The presentation will highlight the commercialization approach and four areas of risk management.
