Committee Charter

The committee is responsible for developing and making available educational programs and materials for LESI and its National Societies, aimed at equipping professionals with the skills needed to advance the commercialization of intellectual assets. Its tasks include training of trainers, creating and making available comprehensive course content, and partnering with National Societies and other institutions to further develop and disseminate educational resources. By fostering knowledge sharing and professional development, the committee supports LESI’s mission to build a global, collaborative community that brings creativity and innovation to the market .

Engagements and Activities

Offering and maintaining curricular courses as resource to national societies.

• LES100 – IP & Licensing Basics Course [on–site, 1 day or 2 half–days] LES100 is an introductory course aimed at members of the legal and business fraternities which are relatively new to the fields of intellectual property (IP) and/or IP licensing, as well as those who need a refresher on the basics of IP and/or IP licensing. The course is designed for inventors, businesspeople involved in IP exploitation, legal advisors, students, academics, licensing and technology transfer professionals, etc.

• LESI&EPO Advanced Commercialisation Course, Succeeding at technology commercialisation and negotiation“ [on-site, 2 days] This course gives you a comprehensive and professional set of tools and techniques so that you can profit from your IP and put it at the heart of your business strategy in a way that is easy to access, easy to follow and easy to implement. The course is designed for intellectual capital and business development managers as well as entre- and intrapreneurs with great ideas who are looking to perform at the highest level. It is also intended for their advisors. You might be from an SME, a start-up, a spin-out, an emerging enterprise, a MNC, the technology transfer business or a research organisation.

• Online-training course on best practices in licensing, developed by LES Brazil [online, 3 sessions of 1,5h each]
Offering Train the trainer courses
Information on the course offerings on the LESI Website to guide member societies interested in delivering these courses; including operating procedures for planning and delivering and a list of trained instructors.
Partnering with National Societies and other institutions to further develop, exchange and disseminate educational resources – The Education Committee also seeks to identify educational courses developed by member societies that are offered on a routine basis.
Inclusive Online Meetings: The education committee conducts regular online meetings to discuss upcoming activities and projects, providing a touchpoint to connect, share ideas, and
collaborate for LES members active in educational activities on national level and all LESI members interested in educational activities.
Annual Meeting Events: The Education Committee offers support for National Societies who want to integrate one of the above mentioned educational offerings in the program of their events on international, regional or national level. Plan and facilitate delivery of above mentioned courses at annual and regional meetings,
