Month-long observance builds on WIPO’s World IP Day to expand opportunities for participation

WASHINGTON, April 1, 2014 –Today, the Licensing Executives Society will launch a month-long series of ‘Around the World with LES’ (ATW) events across the globe aimed at uniting IP-interested business professionals and building awareness about the critical role intellectual property (IP) plays in improving lives and stimulating economic growth worldwide.

“LES has expanded its annual Around the World celebration to encompass not only the World Intellectual Property Organization’s World IP Day observance on April 26, but also a month of ATW events hosted by our local chapters and national societies across the globe,” said Russell Levine, President of the Licensing Executives Society (U.S.A. and Canada).

LES’s vast network of North American chapters and national societies in cities around the world will join the United States Patent and Trademark Office and other national and regional organizations in observing World IP Day and hosting celebrations.

Dozens of ATW events are planned with activities ranging from networking receptions, educational programs and speaker/panel events, to career chats and hot topic discussions. The events, which are open to both members and non members, typically attract industry thought leaders, government officials, policy makers, as well as a wide spectrum of business development, IP and licensing professionals, IP lawyers and graduate students.

“In celebrating World IP Day and hosting ATW events, we are working to join hands to build a stronger LES family to enhance the innovation economy worldwide,” said Yvonne Chua, President of LES International.
