The EU Data Act in Practice: Industrial Data Sharing, AI, and the Future of the Data Economy
LES Benelux
All Committees

The EU Data Act is rewriting the rules for how industrial and connected-device data is accessed, shared and — crucially — priced. For licensing professionals, it opens an entirely new field of data access and data-sharing agreements, with statutory rules on reasonable compensation, FRAND-style access conditions, unfair contractual terms, and the protection of trade secrets in the deal.

On this topic day LES Benelux brings together senior lawyers, in-house counsel, industry experts and policymakers for a full-day conference on the Data Act in practice — built around the questions that matter when you are structuring and negotiating data deals.

The morning sessions place the Data Act within the wider EU digital framework and dig into its scope and B2B obligations, the interaction of FRAND conditions with competition law, and the European Commission’s own view on implementation, delegated acts and enforcement.

The afternoon turns to practice, with sector panels on energy data spaces and smart infrastructure, a case study on AI/data in healthcare, a dedicated session on the Data Act/GDPR interface, and a frank look at the challenges and opportunities facing European tech companies on the ground including on trade secrets. Delegates leave with practical guidance for drafting, pricing and negotiating data-access arrangements under the new regime.
