The session (hosted by LES USA-Canada) will cover major developments in IP law and policy since the advent of the current Administration, including USPTO policy changes on the Patent Trial & Appeals Board (PTAB) and other matters, trends in AI copyright litigation and content licensing for AI models, EU legislation requiring opt-out by content owners for commercial training exemption, White House statements on AI IP policy issues (including recent issues involving "distillation" of AI models by China-based competitors), Supreme Court decision in Cox v. Sony Music on contributory copyright infringement, policy statements by DOJ Antitrust concerning standard-essential patent licensing and the proposed EU safe harbor for licensee negotiation groups, and status of pending federal patent legislation.
