Biotech Pharma. bubble has burst and understandably this has an impact on our dealmaking:

  • • Public companies are struggling - far too many immature companies went public with huge over valuations
  • • Big Pharma is waiting to see companies lose value before embarking on M&A
  • • As a result biotech must be more flexible in its deal making and look to incremental deals to increase value before M&A and/or IPO

Covid changed the industry:

  • • Manufacturing is now recognised as key
  • • Clinical trials now need to be virtual/hybrid, more diverse, faster
  • • Healthcare providers still spending heavily on covid vaccines at the expense of reimbursing other medicines
  • • Panelists all agreed its quicker to get deals done as so much can be done remotely, but meeting people make better deals
