Dr. Hemang Shah has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Dr. Hemang began their career at VESIT as a Placement Coordinator, where they facilitated the campus recruitment process. Dr. Hemang then worked as a Summer Research Fellow at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, where they developed simulations for predicting liquid crystal alignment. Later, Dr. Shah joined Drexel University as a Research Fellow, focusing on various projects related to carbon nanotubes, ferroelectric polymers, and patterned polymers and liquid crystals. Dr. Hemang also took on teaching assistant roles and was involved in curriculum development. Moving on to the corporate world, Dr. Shah joined Qualcomm and worked in different roles, including Systems Engineering for Mirasol, MEMS displays, and Systems Engineering for multimedia in Snapdragon chips. Dr. Hemang filed patents in multiple areas and led cross-functional teams across different locations. Dr. Hemang also worked as the India Engineering Lead (Director) at Qualcomm Technology Licensing and led Qualcomm Make in Africa (Startups) initiative. In addition to their corporate experience, Dr. Shah has taken on various leadership roles in associations and committees related to intellectual property and innovation. Dr. Hemang serves as the Co-Chairman of the National IPR committee at ASSOCHAM, Vice President of Licensing Executives Society International (LESI) India, and a member of the National IPR Committee at FICCI and the National Committee on IP at the Confederation of Indian Industry. Aside from these roles, Dr. Shah is an angel investor and hosts a podcast called "Innovation Sports and Life." Overall, Dr. Hemang Shah has a strong background in engineering, intellectual property, innovation strategy, and leadership. Dr. Hemang Shah holds an impressive educational background in various fields. Dr. Hemang obtained a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Nanotechnology, and Physics from Drexel University. Additionally, they pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the same institution. Prior to that, Dr. Shah earned a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Mumbai. In 2007, Dr. Shah completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering from Drexel University. Continuing their educational pursuits, they later enrolled in the MIT Sloan School of Management in 2016 to specialize in the field of Design Thinking with a focus on innovation of products and services. Aside from their academic achievements, Dr. Shah also holds certifications in various areas. Dr. Hemang is a certified Squash Coach by the World Squash Federation, having completed the World Squash Federation Foundation Coach program in December 2021. Moreover, they have obtained certification in ISO9001:2008 from DEKRA Certification B.V. Dr. Shah has also completed a program on Innovation of Products and Services: MIT's Approach to Design Thinking offered by the EMERITUS Institute of Management.
