Around the World with LES

LESI celebrates World Intellectual Property Day by coordinating worldwide events organized by LES national societies. 

World IP Day was established by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) “to promote discussion of the role of intellectual property (IP) in encouraging innovation and creativity . . . a unique opportunity each year to join with others around the globe to consider how IP contributes to the flourishing of music and the arts and to driving the technological innovation that helps shape our world.”

Arab Countries Ammar Ziad 27 April 2017 - A workshop, "The Interaction between IP rights and pharmaceutical in the GCC Region: A Focused Prospect", will be held at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh International University in cooperation with ASIP and AGIP.
Argentina Veronica M. Canese 26 April 2017 - Director of the Copyright Office, Mr. Gustavo Schotz, to speak at a workshop in the offices of Marval, O'Farrell & Mairal. He will present and inform about the recent launch of the new online registration system and discuss the need to update the copyright system (draft law under study, ongoing negotiations, collective societies).

Austria Karin Hofmann 2 May 2017 - Topical event "Enforcement of Patents" to be held at the University of Vienna. Speakers include a Patent Attorney, Judge from the Court of Appeal Vienna, a Referent from European Patent Office & people from the industry.
Benelux Laura Macdonald 26 April 2017 - LES Benelux and AIPPI members will be gathering in Amsterdam for drinks and to share IP stories in an informal networking way. Guests and interested parties involved in WOIP will be in attendance.
Brazil Candida Caffe 16 & 17 March 2017 - LES Regional Meeting in Rio de Janeiro will be joined with a celebration of World IP Day.
Britain & Ireland Colin Hunsley 6 April 2017 - LES B&I will be linking their "IP Strategy & Management in Healthcare" Evening Seminar with World IP Day in London.
27 April 2017 - LES Scotland will be hosting a World IP Day Dinner in Edinburgh featuring speakers from Skyscanner.

 Vojtěch Chloupek 6 April 2017 - "Management of Intellectual Property Rights for Startups" will be hosted in Prague. Panel discussions will be focused on issues relating to the protection of software by copyrights & patents, branding, acquisition of rights internationally and general about the intricacies of IPR management in the world of startups.
